Can microproteins affect cancer growth?

It has long been known that proteins are needed for virtually all processes that take place in the body’s cells. But what do the smaller variants, the so-called microproteins, do? Can you influence them and thus kill cancer cells? That is what Simon Elsässer and his research group at Karolinska Institutet are trying to find out.
