  • 3 June 2024, 14:00

The next generation of mobile systems, 6G, is under development and with that, communication via satellites in space is integrated. Sweden must invest in the new technology to continue to be a world-leading country in mobile telecommunications systems. Therefore, SSF allocates SEK 60 million to a multidisciplinary research center “MRC – 6G Satellite Communication (6GSAT)”

The center’s research area shall be energy-efficient integration of mobile communication and space-based satellite communication. Examples of research questions are architecture for computation, data management and AI as well as robust and secure IoT for Satellites.

The center is the fifth in SSF’s ongoing investment in Multidisciplinary Research Centers (MRC). The aim is to stimulate multidisciplinary research between academia, research institutes, industry and society for sharper results and faster application. It should also contribute to placing Sweden in a leading position internationally in the field of research. The application must clearly describe the multidisciplinarity of the proposal, which skills and techniques will be used and which knowledge gaps that will be filled.
