Summary
The programme finances two national resource centres for large-scale genetic analyses: one for large-scale genotyping and mapping of disease loci at UU and one for large-scale DNA sequencing at KTH. The goal is to increase scientific production in the field of genome research, develop novel links between academia and industry, train a new generation of medical and biology students in genome science and serve as a stimulus for Swedish commercial initiatives in genome science and gene discovery. SSF has awarded SEK 3 M for a three-year extension of the national resource centre in Uppsala (dnr D2002:091, 1 Mkr and A4 02/0416, 2 Mkr) and 0,7 M for national network activities (A4 02/0292).
