Summary

Main objectives: To arrange and develop the Material´s Day (4th of Nov. 2009), the effective meetingplace, which offers unique opportunities for the industry and academy to meet around common interests. Most of the Material´s Day is spent on workshops, where academic researchers and representatives from industry meet in small (five to six researchers) workinggroups to discuss specific questions that the industry on beforehand has submitted. The researchers come from all disciplines (technique, chemistry, physics) but having a common interest in the question. Condensed work plan: The Material´s Day will be a yearly event with varying theme. During year 2008 the theme is adhesion and during 2009 it will probably be energy material. The invitation is sent to the industry and materialresearchers at Universities from all Sweden. The industry submit there questions at the end of September and thereafter the reserachers register which of the questions they will participate in a discussion in. In October the the matching will start and groups are formed with researchers and industrypeople having the same interests. After the Material´s Day, lots of time will be spent on follow-up meetings for those participants wanting it. Expected results: The Material´s Day leads to unique opportunities for the academy and industry to meet and will most probably result in increased collaboration and faster knowledge transfer to the society than any traditional conference form does.
