Summary
Nanodevices are very powerful sensors for several reasons. First, the small size often results in superior sensitivity. Second, if the sensor is used to detect a physical quantity the small size makes it possible to probe that quantity very locally. Third, if the sensor is used to detect chemical or biological substances it can detect extremely small amounts of substances, potentially down to the single molecule level. This program is focused on ultra sensitive nano sensors with applications in biosensing and electronics. Several of the projects will be preformed in close collaboration with Swedish industry. There is also strong industrial involvement via EU collaboration.
