Summary
Industrial production is often very energy-intensive and its waste products threaten our environment. The goal of the programme is to imitate the smart, economical way nature has of producing chemicals, materials and energy. In nature, enzymes are used in areas where industry uses catalysts to increase reaction rates and exchanges in processes. Research is focused on creating artificial structures on surfaces that will generate processes that are similar to the functions of enzymes. The ultimate goal is to be able to present a process inspired by enzymes.
