Summary
The vision of this centre is to become a world-leading research centre in developmental biology, with a particular focus on cellular differentiation in the nervous system. This will be accomplished by bringing together nine outstanding research groups and by making three cutting edge international recruitments in sectors where key expertise currently is lacking. The centre will seek to unravel novel molecular and cellular principles for stem cell biology, for the differentiation of cells to specific fates, and for the organisation and function of differentiated cells. The centre also intends to develop novel technology in several fields, including transgenesis, RNA expression analysis and electron microscopy. As a part of this, the centre will also act as a know-how hub for Swedish developmental biology and biomedical communities at large, and have the capacity to house researchers for different time periods in a “research hotel” to provide hands-on transferring of techniques, which rapidly disseminates novel technology.
