Summary
The personal mobility includes two units at SCANIA, Södertälje. In the production, case hardening and related distortions will be the focus whereas in the R&D unit, the influence on fatigue properties by straightening of these axes will be investigated. Thus, two subprojects are suggested which fit perfectly into each other. It is expected that the project will give a good insight into the process and material parameters affecting distortions during hardening. It is also expected that the project will give a good understanding of the influence of mechanical properties after straightening distorted parts. Both case hardened and induction hardened axes will be investigated. The research will use both experimental and theoretical methods to accomplish its goals.
