The ideal molecule for storage of solar energy

Storing solar energy is difficult. One way is to use chemical reactions. Kasper Moth-Poulsen at Chalmers is trying to find the perfect molecule for storage. Using isomerism, molecules with the same chemical formula but different structures, the energy is stored when the bonds are formed and released when the bonds are broken.
