Covid was caused by a virus, but pandemics can also be caused by bacteria. Johan Bengtsson Palme and his research group at Chalmers University of Technology are trying to look into the future and understand which pathogenicity can cause the next pandemic. One way is to look for antibiotic resistance genes in bacteria in our environment.
