They disarm the intestines’ enemies

Over half a billion people a year get some type of intestinal bacterial infection. By building their own intestines, so-called organoids, Mikael Sellin and his colleagues at Uppsala University can study how infections occur. With genetic engineering, they can then disarm aggressive bacteria such as Salmonella and Shigella. See how, in the first film of the year from SSF!
