They investigate the climate impact on the Arctic’s important carbon storage

They are investigating the impact of climate change on the Arctic’s important carbon storage. Around the research station in Latnjajaure, 16 kilometers from Abisko, small open greenhouse-like shelters are scattered across the mountains. With their help, Anne Bjorkman and the researchers at the University of Gothenburg can simulate future climate warming in the Arctic. They are investigating whether and how the environment and plants adapt, how biodiversity is affected and how the Arctic’s ability to capture and store carbon dioxide in the air changes.
