Apply for SSF Adjunct Professor or Adjunct Associate Professor!

For the third time, the Foundation for Strategic Research, SSF, is announcing the “SSF Adjunct Professor or Adjunct Associate Professor” program. The call is aimed at highly qualified people employed in Swedish business, healthcare providers or government agencies who are seeking employment as either an adjunct professor or an adjunct associate professor at a Swedish university.

The foundation strategically funds research of the highest quality that contributes to Sweden’s future competitiveness, but also aims to promote researcher mobility. According to statistics from Statistics Sweden, nearly 75 percent of Swedish researchers work in business or the public sector. The purpose of the call is to give these researchers the opportunity to develop their research at the academy, and in this way increase knowledge transfer and cross-fertilization between the sectors.

SSF has allocated SEK 15 million to ten grants, a maximum of SEK 1.5 million per project, which corresponds to approximately 10 percent of a part-time position as an adjunct professor or adjunct associate professor. Since the scope of such a position is normally 20 percent, one day a week, co-financing for the remaining 10 percent is required from the main employer. A recommended length for the project is six years, but a minimum is 2 years.

The researcher must conduct strategic research within one of the foundation’s areas; natural sciences, technology or medicine.

The application deadline is December 1, 2026, at 2:00 PM.

The project must start between April 1 and October 1, 2027.
