Summary
Additive manufacturing (AM) or 3D-printing has the potential to revolutionize manufacturing as we know it. However, a more fundamental knowledge of the material science in AM is required to fully utilize the potential of the technique. Within this project we aim to advance such knowledge by developing generic experimental and computational methods to increase the understanding between process parameters, microstructure and properties in AM of high-performance metallic materials. We will apply the methods on two demonstrator systems; Ni-based alloys and amorphous alloys. Within the project we will: •"Develop generic methods for modelling of AM processes, •"Develop methods for rapid screening of microstructure and properties of AM gradient samples to reduce lead time in research and industrial production, •"Evaluate microstructure and properties of demonstrator systems including a comparison between different AM methods, •"Demonstrate the generic use of the models and screening methods by the AM of two components, one based on Ni-based materials and on amorphous alloys. The project is cross-disciplinary and involves research groups at Uppsala University, Luleå University of Technology and Malmö Högskola. Swedish industry is participating, directly as well through participation in an industrial reference group. Special emphasis will be devoted toward the transfer of results and knowledge to the participating industries

Vad gäller andra anslag så har de sökande stora medel i större projekt där man ingå som medsökande och medelsmottagre. För att ge en rättvis bild av de sökandes finansiering har vi angivit som grant holder medsökande i denna SSF-ansökan. Själva huvudsökande, (som ibland kan vara rektor för ett universitet) har satts i parantes. Huvudsökande har avsett beräknar 20% aktivitet men har avsatt lägre finansieringsbelopp. Återstoden medfinansieras från fakultetsmedel. Samma sak gäller för de andra WP-ansvariga. När ansökan skulle skickas in upptäckte jag att man också ville veta sökt belopp. Dessa uppgifter är flertalet fall mycket svårframtagna. Speciellt där flera sökande delar på ett tillldelat anslag. Det som erhålles blir ju en förhandling som inte med nödvändighet motsvarar den angivna budgetplanen. Efter godkännande av forskningssekreterare Mattias Lundberg, SSF anger vi därför sökt och tilldelat belopp med samma belopp. Observera att detta också stämmer i många fall.
