Summary
The main objective in EcoProIT is: Enable measurement and evaluation of environmental footprint during the lifecycle of a product. The objective has two goals: 1. To enable measurement of environmental footprints for marketing and transparency throughout the lifecycle. 2. To enable analysis and improvement/reduction of the environmental footprint at the analyzed part and/or during the lifecycle as a whole for a product. The plan is to: 1. Benchmark current sustainability evaluation methods 2. Outline methodology for dynamic sustainability evaluation 3. Develop and build a demonstrator of the EcoProIT tool 4. Demonstrate, refine and validate the tool in three case studies 5. Demonstrate calculation of environmental footprint for one product The expected results are: 1. A patented software solution for environmental footprint calculation and evaluation 2. A certification procedure including lecture materials on how to conduct an “EcoProIT analysis”. 3. A spin-off company which sells the services: a. Environmental footprint marking b. Certification and lectures to conduct the EcoProIT analysis 4. Minimum four publications where at least one is a journal paper. 5. One PhD dissertation (Anders Skoogh) 6. One Licentiate seminar (New PhD Student) 7. Minimum one workshop and partaking with a booth at one technical fare.

EcoProIT projektet utvecklar ett sätt att mäta och utvärdera miljöpåverkan från produktframtagningsprocesser. Första steget i detta projekt är att kunna mäta miljöpåverkan. Andra steget blir att använda detta mätinstrument för att finna förbättringspotential. Detta kommer att gynna industrin på två sätt. 1. Industrier kan mäta och sätta/förmedla ett värde på sin del av miljöpåverkan i produktframtagningsprocessen. 2. Internt kan verktyget som EcoProIT tar fram användas i förbättringsarbete inom respektive företag. Idén som EcoProIT grundar sig på kommer att kommersialiseras, studenter kommer att utbildas i hållbar produktframtagning, samt ett certifikat kommer att finnas att införskaffa för de personer som genomgått utbildningen med godkänd insats och förståelse för hur EcoProIT kan användas för beräkningar av miljöpåverkan i produktframtagningsprocessen.
