Summary
The long term objective of the BUTLER programme is to provide industrial plants with as much selfsurveillance functionality as possible, in order to make the industrial processes as robust as possible. By building systems that automatically detect anomalies in complex industrial systems, by making them able to efficiently find the probable cause of such anomalies, and by using them to predict future development, consequences, and successful countermeasures, we can potentially relieve the human operators of some of the workload and help them run the processes in the most efficient way possible.
