Summary
The present application aims at strengthening Volvo Cars' Safety Centre and Chalmers Division of Materials and Computational Mechanics within the area of polymer materials. The collaboration will aim at investigating the properties and developing new numerical models for multifunctional materials, recycled polymers and biocomposites. It will also strengthen current research initiatives in the area of crashworthiness and virtual testing. The results from the research will be used in the development phase at Volvo Cars therefore enabling the use of lighter and more environmentally friendly materials. The applicant will dedicate 20 percent of his employment to participate in research activities at Chalmers. These will include supervision of PhD and Master students, participation in research seminars and common application to research projects.
