Summary
The SciLifeLab Data Centre (DC) is a national infrastructure for life science data. It is a central support function at SciLifeLab, the national infrastructure for life science, where it is assigned to provide IT- and data services to the infrastructure units, lead and operate the data support and databases part of the Data-Driven Life Science (DDLS) program funded by the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation. The infrastructure also takes a national coordinating role for issues on life science data. Users of the DC are both Swedish researchers and other infrastructure units. The objective is to maximize the scientific impact of life science data produced in Sweden, doing so through combining IT strong systems with research data management support, and strongly promoting Open Science and the FAIR principles. The main applicant founded DC in 2016 and has been leading and developing the infrastructure since, and it has grown rapidly. The infrastructure is expected to build a national data platform with services for data-driven life science, enabling the integration between infrastructure units and researchers. Services for sensitive data and health data sharing is a priority.

SciLifeLab Data Centre är en nationell infrastruktur för data från livsvetenskaperna. Enheten arbetar med att tillgängligöra data från svensk forskning för att möjliggöra så brett genomslag som möjligt. Man gör detta genom att förena stark kompetens inom IT med forskningsdatastöd, och genom att främja öppenhet, transparens och reproducerbarhet. Under kommande år står vi inför en nya utmaningar för svensk livsvetenskap, särskilt vad gäller delning av hälsodata och nya experimentella tekniker som genererar stora mängder komplexa data. SciLifeLab Data Centre kommer nu att påbörja uppbyggnaden av en nationell dataplattform där forskning och infrastruktur kan mötas i användandet och tillgängliggörandet av dessa data, för att maximera nytta och öppenhet.
