Summary
The scope of this activity include two parts: -Part 1: HVAC Transmission Grid Protection System with innovative solutions: Backup Protection System Design based on Digital Substation Environment with fully equiped IEC61850 process bus. The purpose of this research is to find solution to make rearrangement of future protection systems which could separate the main protection and backup protection into two parts physically. with new environment. The second expected result might be to better use of information data within a total substation as backup protection. This activity will involve a supervision of Ph.D student for cooperation with KTH. The time plan in short will be given below: 2015 project starting with paper collection and reviewing. Power system model setup and basic simulation in PSCAD. 2016 backup protection system setup with communication of different bay merging units to obtain currents, voltages in a system wide conditions. Exploring the possible solution of new technology -Part 2: HVDC Grid Line Protection: The scope of this work will be develop high speed line protection based on Voltage Source Convertor connected DC Grid Line. The contents include high speed line protection, backup protection, possible high impedance fault protection, etc. to meet special requirement of HVDC breakers and DC Grid. The time plan: 2015 to start collection material model setup in PSCAD, 2016 Simulation and Algorithm Development.
