Summary
At this centre researchers from both core mathematics and applied mathematics collaborate with industry to create a bridge between a broad area of mathematics and industrial applications. The purpose is twofold: (i) to develop new mathematics that is relevant for applications and to disseminate these results to industry; and (ii) to educate a new generation of mathematicians with a profound understanding and experience of applications of mathematics. The Center is run a consortium of experts in analysis, discrete mathematics and combinatorics, stochastics, numerics, optimization, systems theory, and computer science. VB för 2006 (något kortat): The mission for CIAM is to create a bridge between a broad area of mathematics and industrial applications. The purpose is twofold: -"to develope new mathematics that is relevant for applications and to disseminate these results to industry; and -"to educate a new generation of mathematicians with a profound understanding and experience of applications of mathematics. The research projects are application-driven and carried out in collaboration with industrial partners. Interesting mathematical problems of importance to industry are identified for research and education.
