The Division of Scientific Computing, Department of Information Technology, Uppsala University, is organizing the conference ENUMATH 2009 between June 29 and July 3, 2009, in Uppsala. A preliminary homepage is found at http://www.akademikonferens.uu.se/enumath2009/. The conference is the eighth one in a series of biennial conferences that started in Paris 1995. The last conference was 2007 in Graz, Austria, with more than 300 participants. The topics of the conference in Uppsala are recent results and new trends in the analysis of numerical methods as well as their application to challenging scientific and industrial problems will be discussed. Apart from theoretical aspects, a major part of the conference will be devoted to numerical techniques for interdisciplinary applications. The format of the conference will be invited speakers, one public lecture, invited and contributed minisymposia, and contributed talks. A minsymposium consists of four speakers and talks with a common theme. The venue is located in the center of Uppsala with walking distance to the conference hotels. Springer has agreed to publish the conference proceedings after the conference in one of their Lecture Notes series. We have engaged Akademikonferens http://www-conference.slu.se/ to help us with various practical issues like registration and handling of abstracts. It is a professional company for organization of meetings like this and owned by Uppsala University and SLU.
