Summary
This Center will approach one of the great challenges in nanotechnology, namely self-assembly of extremely down-scaled nanodevices and -systems, for use in advanced nanoelectronics as well as for different fields of biomedical applications. To make this possible, a coherent effort, involving highly qualified scientists in materials science, in semiconductor physics, in device and circuit technology, and in different aspects of life-sciences, is necessary. Beside the efforts in science, industrial opportunities will be emphasized, by which start-up companies will be supported. Furthermore, the basis for cooperation with established industry via implementation of nanowire technology for different industrial sectors, e.g., in biomedical applications, will hopefully offer added competitive edge for established high-technology companies in Sweden and in the region.
