Summary
Main objectives and plan: This proposal is geared towards two complementary goals. Firstly, at a technical level, we aim to improve the usage and added value of real-time tracked data to build interactive collaborative systems. Secondly, at a higher level, we aim to define and realize prototypical uses of such systems, which typically are large-scale interactive tables, whiteboards, or combinations of these. We aim to define applications supporting complex planning and decision-making processes that significantly affect our society. Populärvetenskaplig beskrivning
This proposal aims at exploring industrial benefits of using camera-based technologies to realize interactive and collaborative systems. These systems will typically be large-scale interactive tables, whiteboards, or combinations of these. The need for collaborative planning arises in fields like production planning, civil engineering, resource planning, virtual production, and even in homeland security. The result we expect from this project is a solid and long-term collaboration between universities and companies located in Sweden and Switzerland. The main industrial host will be INSPIRE AG in Zurich, Switzerland. However, Prof. Fjeld will also work with Qualisys AB in Gothenburg, Sweden for short periods to insure a thorough transfer of knowledge. The expected results and deliverables are of several kinds. Firstly, we aim to realize an interactive prototype, which can be used as a live demonstration of the project’s results. Secondly, we aim for a set of publications at leading peer-reviewed conferences and journals. At an educational level, we aim to advise master theses and PhD topics, thereby insuring the involvement of MSc- and PhD-students in the project. Finally, we aim to establish a EU consortium for a long-term university/industry EUREKA project. We also hope that a set of guidelines for industrial use of vision-based collaborative systems will come out of this project.
